With the use of CI4+ in the Shimano Ultegra XTC Ci4 it delivers a substantial weight saving on the compact Ultegra body making rod speed easier to generate when distance casting. To further increase casting performance the Ultegra XTC uses 2 Speed Slow Oscillation line lay and an AR-C spool fitted with the new Hi-Speed Drag mechanism. Also in the Ultegra XTC Ci4 is Cold Forged HAGANE gearing and X-Ship which produce powerful winding performance.  The Shimano Ultegra XTC Ci4 has 5 Stainless A-RB bearings plus a Shimano Roller bearing that deliver supreme smoothness. The Ultegra Ci4 Fishing reel is protected according to Shimano's latest innovation X-Protect which will guarantee to protect the reel's inner parts against intrusion from water and dirt. The G Free Body in combination with the Parallel Body will help the angler to achieve long and accurate cast without unnecessary fatigue throughout the day. The new Ultegra CI4+ has a very compact body design which contributes to the feel of a compact and lightweight surf casting reel.
 
The Shimano Ultegra XTC Ci4 is perfectly matched with the Aerowave Graphite Rods in all models, The Aerowave  1003, Shimano Aerowave 1103, Shimano Aerowave 1203, Shimano Aerowave 1303 and the Shimano Aerowave 1303. The Shimano Ultegra Ci4 XTC will balance well on all these models, the difference being the Power Pro you would use.
If you are putting the Shimnao Ultegra Ci4 XTC on the Aerowave 1003 and 1103 you would put 20 or 30lb power pro on the Ultegra, The Shimano Aerowave 1303H will suit 30lb and 40lb Power Pro, And the 1203 and 1303 will suit 30lb.
