The Daiwa Crossfire and Shimano Catana FE Combo is ideal for beginners and experienced fishos alike, you'll be able to chase bread and butter species in many different ways and locations. The Crossfire comes in at 12ft long, meaning that you can fish it from the beach, rock ledges and breakwalls, the extra length gives you good casting distance so your bait can get out into the deeper gutters. Longer rods also help you keep line away from rocks at your feet. It has a soft tip and is very responsive to bites, the slower taper help you when fighting fish as it soaks up lunges from fish reducing the likleyhood that you will pull hooks. The reel has a smooth drag system and should be sealed enough to keep sand, dirt and saltwater out of the reel if you take care of it. We chose the 3000 Catana for this combo as it has a good line capacity and is affordable.
