This combo is ideal for chasing GT and larger Kingfish on stickbaits and poppers around schools of bait, reefs, bommies and headlands. The Daiwa Saltist MQ 18000 is a strong reel, its MQ body has less entry points for sand and water whilst also giving the reel a rigid feel. The Daiwa Saltist MQ 18000 can handle saltwater spray which is an essential feature of an offshore reel as typically when fishing in the ocean your gear tends to get wet. The reel has an impressive 20kilograms of drag which is certainly enough to stop a GT or big Kingy. The Monster Mesh comes in at 8ft long meaning you can maximise your casting distance, this helps as you can keep the boat further away from the headlands and bommies you are fishing, therefore your vessel will be both in calmer and safer waters. You can also cast into schools of bait on the surface from further away in order not to scare them down. Fishing with a longer rod gives the angler more leverage on the fish accounting for an easier and quicker fish, due to this you are less likely to get busted off, sharked or pull hooks.

MONOCOQUE (MQ)

MQ Body takes reel design to the next level. The MQ system does not require conventional side plate, instead using an engine plate to screw directly to the body. Eliminating the need for screws to hold a body cover in place. MQ body improves the strength of the reel, it also improves the water-resistance of the body and allows a larger diameter drive gear to be installed.

ABS LONGCAST

Compared to conventional spools, the LC-ABS has been shown to increase the average flight distance by approx. 5% due to its reduced weight and modified shape.

AIR ROTOR

Lighter, stronger and more balanced than any rotor system that’s come before, ‘Air Rotor’ delivers a great leap forward in rotor design and function and delivers the ultimate line roller support. Made from Zaion and featuring a redesigned arch that disperses pressure to the lower section of the rotor to reduce stressing and flexing, the design is further enhanced with a hollowed out construction reducing weight, while increasing reel sensitivity and rotational balance.

MAGSEALED BODY

Ultimate protection is delivered to the engine room of the reel with a magnetised oil seal located on the main shaft of the reel’s rotor shutting the door to the elements and unwanted intruders. Dust, water, and salt intrusion into the inner workings of a reel are a thing of the past with MagSeal.
