The Penn Squall 16 VS is a bulletproof overhead reel, the 16 is perfect for fishing 10kg due to its high line capacity, castbility and smooth drag. The Backbone Elite 10kg is a hardguide rod, braid friendly and comes with a gimbal butt section. Fishing for Marlin with light 10kg game outfits is a great way to increase your capture rate, using 10kg allows you to use thin gauge hooks on your skirts or livebaits which increases your hookup and landing rate. Thin hooks penetrate easily into the mouths of Stripe and Black Marlin, the light 10kg line isnt heavy enough to bend these hooks out mid fight. Typically anglers pop their fish off boatside by intentionally pulling the hook when grabbing leader, this method increases the fishes chances of survival.
