Shimano Speedmaster & Penn Ocean Assassin Offshore Overhead Fishing Combo

This is a great general purpose offshore combo that is as tough as nails, feels great and wont break the bank. You'll be able to jig for pelagics in deep water, drop livebaits or bottom bash with this setup hence why it's an essential part of your rod and reel arsenal as an offshore fisho. The Shimano Speedmaster 12 is a compact sized overhead reel but dont be fooled by its small size it's high drag capacity and low gear ratio means you'll be able to put serious pressue on big fish. We chose the narrow faced Peedmaster 12 for this combo as it means it is easier to correct the linelay and you can still fit plenty of braid on the reel. The Speedmaster has excellent sealing so theres no need to worry if when punching out on the boat your combo gets sprayed with saltwater. The Penn Ocean Assassin II is a great rod for all-things offshore. It has a strong backbone so dont feel afraid to lock up your reel to max drag and rip into fish! It can jig upto 380g so you will be able to fish this combo out into deeper water. We chose multicolour braid for this combo as it allows you to keep track of how deep you are fishing.
