This combo is ideal for chasing large Squid off of Sydney's ocean rocks this winter. The Shimano Stradic FL 3000 is a smooth, durable reel suited to EGI style of fishing, importantly its drag is very smooth under low pressue which is essential when chasing squid. The BG's MQ body and the screw in handle help keep salt water out of the reel, preventing corrosion. This is important whilst squidding off of ocean rocks as reels tend to get splashed with saltwater fairly often. The Daiwa Emeraldas 8ft3 pe0.5-1 rod comes in at 8ft3, meaning the angler can cast squid jigs long distances therefore covering more ground. The Daiwa Emeraldas has a slow taper, therefore the long slow lunges of Cephalopod's such as Calamari, Arrow Squid and Cuttlefish are soaked up by the blank, reducing the likelyhood that the hooks will pull. Despite the slow taper the rod still has a very strong backbone, this is helpful when landing larger Calamari and Cuttlefish off higher ledges as it gives you the ability to lift heavier weights with ease.

X-PROTECT 
Superior Saltwater Resistance By combining the internal water repellent and the labyrinth structure, it achieves performance that can repel water without losing the lightness of rotation. This features in the line roller section and the roller clutch assembly (anti-reverse). As a result, the durability of the line roller has been improved more than five times (compared to our conventional product).

HAGANE GEAR

G Free technology has been developed to shift the reel’s centre of gravity closer to the rod. Having the centre of gravity closer to an anglers hand position, we reduce fatigue and enhance casting distance.

NEW BAIL DESIGN 
Providing a smooth feeling at the time of opening to make a cast. A wide opening and closing angle improves cast feathering.  It also prevents sudden bail return.

LOW FRICTION ROLLER CLUTCH 
The NEW Stradic is equipped with a low friction and compact roller clutch. Resistance is reduced and the rotation is lighter than the conventional model.

DRAG WASHER SELECTION 
Sizes 2500 and below use 1 set felt drag washer system and the C3000 sizes above use a higher grade 3 set cross carbon washer system with excellent wear resistance.

LONG STROKE SPOOL
The long stroke spool design improves casting performance when compared to the previous model due to improved line flow from the spool. 

AR-C SPOOL 
A spool that has been lightened with Shimano’s original processing technology in order to balance the two goals of “without trouble” and “extending flight distance”. The special shape of the spool ring ensures the best line release
