The Ugly Stik and Aird SW is the ideal combo for someone who is looking to get into beach and rockfishing. This combo can be used for casting baits for Sharks and Jew off of the beach, livebaiting for pelagics such as Kingfish and Bontio off the rocks or even casting baits into washes for Drummer and Grouper. The Aird SW is lightweight reel for its size meaning you can fish with it in the hand in comfort, although Daiwa's Digigear II and low gear ratio will give you enough power to put some power into any larger fish you find yourself hooking. The Ugly Stik has Fuji K guides which help stop tangles and knotting in the line, this is important on a surf rod as you are typically casting heavier weights far and can be prone to tangles. Additionally the Ugly Stik has a glass tip and slow taper meaning you can feel bites in the rod and that the tip will be hard to snap. The setup is spooled with J-Braid x4, this braid is very abrasions resitant as far as braided line goes, this is especially helpful for the rockfisherman as fish tend to find some form of structure whilst you are fishing off the rocks. Furthermore the J-Braid is thin so you can maximise your casting ability and send out baits past breaking waves into where the fish are sitting.

The latest inter-core laminate is an innovative design process that surrounds the graphite shaft fibers in the outer walls with a rigid-wrap structure.
