The Daiwa TD Black 3000 is a smooth, durable reel suited to EGI style of fishing, importantly its drag is very smooth under low pressue which is essential when chasing squid. The Caldias body and the screw in handle help keep salt water out of the reel, preventing corrosion. This is important whilst squidding off of ocean rocks as reels tend to get splashed with saltwater fairly often. The Yamashita 8ft3 pe0.6-1.2 rod comes in at 8ft3, meaning the angler can cast squid jigs long distances therefore covering more ground. The Yamashita rod has a slow taper, therefore the long slow lunges of Cephalopod's such as Calamari, Arrow Squid and Cuttlefish are soaked up by the blank, reducing the likelyhood that the hooks will pull. Despite the slow taper the rod still has a very strong backbone, this is helpful when landing larger Calamari and Cuttlefish off higher ledges as it gives you the ability to lift heavier weights with ease.
