Chasing Tuna

Yellowfin & Bluefin Tuna

As clean, cool water from the Southern Ocean pushes up the east coast of Australia Yellowfin and Southern Bluefin Tuna are commonly found in numbers. These hard fighting and often picky fish are one of the most exciting sportsfishing options Australian waters has to offer.

Traditionally trolling has been the most common way fishos target Tuna. Over the past decade or so throwing topwater stickbaits on heavy spinning combos has also proven to be a highly effective way of targeting these fish.

We've put together a collection of our favourite lures, teasers and combos used for chasing Tuna, meaning that you can fish with full confidence next time you're out on the water.

 This lure is unique in its ability to catch large, fussy eating tuna. Best fished between 6 and 10 knots, but has the advantage of swimming at speeds of 16 knots when the need arises to race to a school of feeding tuna
