This is a premium slow jig combo, ideal for targeting a variety of species including Kingfish, Snapper, Coral Trout, Emperor, Amberjack, Dhufish and Mulloway. Shimanos Torium is a reliable reel, built on an aluminium cast body and boasting 7kgs of smooth usable drag the Torium punches above its weight and its longevity even when used in saltwater will suprise you. Shimanos Saltist Hyper Slow Jig has a comfortable split butt which easily fits under the arm meaning you can use the combo all day. This combo is spooled with Daiwa J-Braid x4, it is important to use lighter braid on these combos, not only because it means that you fit more line on the spool. But also thinner braid has less resistence agisnt the water whilst the jig is dropping, therfore your lure will reach the bottom faster.

DAIWA SALTIST HYPER V2 SLOW JIG OVERHEAD FISHING RODS 

With the rise in popularity of the specialist slow jigging market, Daiwa has expanded its offering with the introduction of the brand-new Saltist Hyper range of specialist slow jig rods.

Saltist Hyper SJ expands on the ever-popular range of Saltist Hyper rods which were upgraded in 2020 and gives the offshore angler even more choice in one of the best bang-for-buck rod ranges available.

Combining Daiwa’s HVF graphite with newly released X45X Full Shield technology, the action and responsiveness of these rods has to be seen to be believed for the price. X45X Full Shield graphite increases torsional stiffness, which reduces blank twist under load. Something that is important in a jigging rod where the up and down motion of working a jig can mean a lot of lost potential energy through twisting of the rod blank. By reducing this twisting force, the rod recovers much faster meaning the action of your jig will be improved.

Outfitted with Fuji stainless steel ‘O’ ring guides and Fuji reel seats, the new Saltist Hyper SJ exudes quality & refinement.

Made at the preferred 6’2” length for the optimum action, Saltist Hyper SJ is available in both overhead and spin configurations in PE 2, 3 & 4 variations.

SHIMANO TORIUM OVERHEAD REELS

The Shimano Torium overhead series is back — and they’re better than ever. The three all-new reels in the 2015 lineup — the 16HGA, the 20HGA and the 30HGA — come equipped with Shimano’s legendary Cross Carbon star drag system, which has been designed to provide 10 kilos of brute-stopping power. This is just what you need when fishing braided line like Power Pro, and line capacities are excellent for their respective sizes. With a high gear ratio of 6.2:1 and a staggering 117cm of line recovered with every crank of the handle, those high speed metals and jigs are simply going to fly through the water. Hopefully their target species can keep up! At a tad over 500 grams in weight, the three reels feature a compact design with a low-slung gear housing, so they’re sufficiently light and ergonomically efficient for long casting sessions without fatigue. Additionally, three SA-RB bearings and one roller bearing make every cast accurate and as smooth as silk.
