Stickbaiting is most anglers go to method for chasing Giant Trevally, they are effective as you get a long cast, are relativley straightforward to work and look realistic.

Features of these combos below will make your life easier when using stickbaits and improve your capture rate. Stickbait rods have a slower action and softer tip than popping rods. This is because there is less resistance when working a stickbait as opposed to a popper, therefore to optimize the action of the lure these rod have soft tips. Soft tips make stickbaits swim better as it puts less pressure on the lure when worked, therefore reducing the likelyhood that it will come out of the water when worked.

We typically pair our stickbait rods with high speed reels, this is because you want to be in contact with your lure as much as possible, so when you sweep the lure and a bow is created in the line the fast line retrieval will allow you to account for the slack. High speed reels also allow you to work your lure faster in order to intice a reaction bite out of pelagics.

If you are only looking to get one rod and want to use both stickbaits and poppers we suggest that you purchase a stickbait combo as you will struggle to use stickbaits on stiff popping rods.
