This combo is perfect for the experienced angler who fishes hard and truly puts the quality of their gear to the test. This combo is very heavy for a jig combo and is ideal for chasing larger fish such as Dogtooth Tuna, big Kingfish, Amberjack and Samson fish. When fishing for big fish under heavy pressure it is important to have an open faced overhead reel in contrast to a low profile baitcaster with a line guide as it reduces the angle of which line is pulled against itself in the reel, meaing the braid wont dig into itself. Daiwa are renouned for their reels abilty to take on saltwater and the Saltist is no exeption, its stainless steel body and ball bearings keep away corosion extremely well. This combo is spooled with Daiwa J-Braid x8, a strong and abrasive braid which is also quite thin in comparison to other braids on the market, these features are why we believe J-Braid x8 is the ideal line for deep heavy jigging

PENN OCEAN ASSASSIN JIG OVERHEAD RODS

Ocean Assassins are built using SLS3 construction. SLS3 construction uses inner and outer spiral wrap layers of carbon fibre to sandwich middle layers of alternating longitudinal carbon and glass. The spiral wraps maintain a round cross section in the blank when under load which helps the blank handle higher loads.

The middle layers of unidirectional carbon and glass create the backbone of the rod by utilizing the strength of glass combined with the lightweight of the carbon fibre to deliver a strong, balanced and thin rod blank.

Componentry is top notch with Fuji K Alconite guides, Fuji DPS reel seats featuring a machined and aluminium lock nut for improved reel security and contoured EVA grips for extreme comfort.

The Saltist Star Drag’s internals are equally made to last and perform thanks to Daiwa’s famous Digigear gear technology. Made from a new-age alloy, Digigear is ultra strong, corrosion resistant, and lighter than any gear that Daiwa have developed before.
